Cuando pensamos en creatividad tendemos a asociarla sólo con el ámbito de las artes, pero también abarca formas científicas, literarias, entre muchas otras.

Y puede extenderse al campo de nuestra vida diaria, mejorando la calidad y las condiciones de la misma. Autores afirman la importancia de la creatividad como una habilidad esencial del siglo XXI.

De acuerdo a la psicología:

La creatividad es la capacidad que tiene nuestro cerebro de crear, de producir cosas nuevas, de llegar a conclusiones y de resolver problemas.

Para Peterson y Seligman creadores de la Psicología Positiva la creatividad individual es definida como una producción de ideas y comportamientos originales y adaptativos, que contribuyen de manera notable en la vida del propio individuo o en la de otros.

Es considerada por muchos teóricos como un proceso fundamental para el desarrollo personal y el progreso social, que permite al ser humano ver las cosas desde una perspectiva diferente, lo cual conlleva a descubrir oportunidades escondidas que otros no han visto.

Para los psicólogos Robinson y Csikszentmihalyi cualquier persona puede desarrollar su potencial creativo y mejorar así su calidad de vida diaria:

“Todos podemos ser creativos”,

La creatividad se puede aprender y depende más de la actitud que asuma el individuo en los diferentes momentos de su vida, que de sus capacidades innatas.

En investigaciones recientes se concluyó que la creatividad no depende exclusivamente de la personalidad sino de una combinación particular de:

  • Habilidades cognitivas (pensamiento, atención, percepción, memoria, experiencias)
  • Características personales
  • Conocimientos técnicos
  • Recursos materiales
  • Coyunturas sociales y culturales.

La creatividad puede ser desarrollada y fomentada en todas las áreas y momentos de la vida, y es un importante recurso del ser humano para afrontar circunstancias adversas. Ha sido considerada como un factor relevante para fomentar resiliencia.

Dentro de los beneficios que arroja la práctica de la creatividad se encuentran que:

  • Colabora con la salud mental, reintegración familiar, desarrollo de autoconfianza y habilidades sociales, además de la prevención del suicidio.
  • Posibilita la apertura hacia nuevas realidades de identidad personal y acción, permitiendo así el desarrollo de nuevas estrategias de afrontamiento frente a la adversidad.
  • Favorece una adaptación adecuada ante las situaciones de estrés o de traumas, los problemas familiares y las enfermedades.
  • Es un mecanismo idóneo para liberar emociones.

Saturnino de la Torre Catedrático de Didáctica de la Universidad de Barcelona, descubrió que existe una creatividad paradójica o resiliente que se define como:

Ese potencial humano para transformar y transformarse ante la adversidad o estados carenciales, y va acompañada de consciencia ante la situación, energía emocional y una actitud superadora.

Esta creatividad resiliente consiste en crear hechos o situaciones que provoquen impacto y desencadenen alternativas generadoras de acciones creativas o cambios constructivos.

Representa un impulso generador que emerge ante situaciones límites de la vida y que ayuda a transformarse y a transformar el entorno de forma positiva.

Un ejemplo de esta creatividad paradójica lo evidenciamos en la actualidad con la invención de vacunas contra el Covid-19, además; de diversas formas de bioseguridad contra el mismo y de tratamientos para combatirlo.

De la Torre, nos da varios ejemplos de creatividad paradójica o resiliente:

Jerome Bruner, el gran psicopedagogo del siglo XX e impulsor de las teorías cognitivas en la Universidad de Harvard, fue ciego de nacimiento, cambió muchas veces de escuela y quedó huérfano de padre a los 12 años.

El gran genio del siglo XX, Albert Einstein, fue considerado en su infancia con cierto retraso mental, proveniente de una familia de escasos recursos económicos, su primer amor no fue aceptado por la familia, luchó con un padre enfermo, un matrimonio fracasado, fue un solitario.

Todas estas situaciones fueron afrontadas por el mayor genio y el mayor pacifista del siglo XX.

Personas sin manos pintan sus cuadros, valiéndose de la boca y de los dedos de los pies para realizar obras de una gran fuerza creativa.

Beethoven tocaba mal el violín y su profesor consideraba que no tenía futuro como compositor.

El director de un diario despidió a Walt Disney por falta de ideas, y éste quebró varias veces antes de construir Disney World.

Henry Ford fracasó y quebró cinco veces, pero siguió adelante considerando sus errores como espacios de aprendizaje, hasta que al final tuvo éxito.

Países como Estados Unidos crecieron con el impulso emprendedor de muchos emigrantes.

La emigración suele aportar diversidad cultural y riqueza a los países que los reciben, por cuanto quienes toman tal decisión suelen ser personas sin recursos, pero emprendedoras, con coraje e iniciativa. La integración cultural, entre otras cosas, hizo una potencia a Estados Unidos.

Winston Churchill no aprobó sexto grado. Llegó a primer ministro a los setenta y dos años, haciendo sus mayores contribuciones siendo viejo, después de una vida llena de derrotas y reveses.

Todos estos ejemplos sirven para demostrar que existe un tipo de creatividad surgida de la adversidad, del error o del azar.

Si quieres potenciar esta maravillosa fortaleza de carácter es necesario que trabajes en:

  • Flexibilizar tu pensamiento, abrir tu mente; no encajonarla en ideas preconcebidas o prejuicios que limitan y finalmente bloquean tu capacidad creativa.
  • Buscar tranquilidad mental y espiritual, la mente embotada es un obstáculo para la generación de ideas, a diferencia de una mente relajada y tranquila donde todo fluye.
  • Identificar los miedos que alimentan tus creencias limitantes, te paralizan y te predisponen negativamente y disminuyen tu capacidad de ser creativo, para luego transformarlos y reafirmarte en tus capacidades, dones y talentos.
  • Dedicar espacios para meditar y reflexionar, observando todas las aristas de las situaciones que te rodean y pensando en opciones de solución desde todos los ángulos posibles.
  • Buscar constantemente factores motivadores a tu alrededor que se compaginen con tus propósitos, con tu sentido de vida.
